Ann Curry has an emotional break down as she announces she no longer will be co-hosting The Today Show!Ann Curry's voice chokes when she talks about saying goodbye this morning on NBC's Today show, years earlier than she had hoped.It's "going to be a bit of a tough day," she told USA TODAY in a 40-minute phone interview Wednesday, sounding as though she were fighting back tears. "I'm going to have to tell our viewers. That's what makes me more emotional than anything. I don't want to leave them. I love them. And I will really miss them."

After a year as co-host, and days of fevered speculation about her future, Curry steps down today from the high-profile post held in the past by the likes of Jane Pauley and Katie Couric.Instead, Curry's new multiyear contract with NBC has her leading a seven-person unit with a ticket to cover the world's biggest stories, from the civil uprising in Syria to the plight of the poor in America. She'll produce network specials and pieces for NBC Nightly News, Dateline, Rock Center— and Today— and she'll occasionally fill in as anchor on Nightly News and elsewhere.

Former WBC Welterweight Champion "Vicious" Victor Ortiz will be taking on 27 year old Josesito Lopez in a classic southpaw versus orthodox match-up.

Although most fight scribes are looking past the former Super Featherweight fighter, the underrated and aggressive mauler from Riverside will more than likely be a surprisingly tough outing for the "Vicious" one from Garden City, Kansas. While Lopez will be making his debut in the Welterweight division, both men are comparable in height and reach.

While the atmosphere was festive, there was no danger of comparing the event with the Oscars or the Primetime Emmys. If you weren’t a fan of daytime television, there were few recognizable faces. It might be comparable to attending an award show for porn stars – if you’re not fluent with the genre it just looks like a gathering of attractive people wearing black-tie on a sunny afternoon. The overall impression was of wealthy folk who live in Santa Barbara and visit Los Angeles infrequently.
“For us, this is more of a family reunion than an award show,” said General Hospital’s Kristen Alderson. “There’s not so much riding on a win, so it’s easier to celebrate.”
As an example of how relatively low-key the scene was (and this might be a first) there was no traffic back-up at the BevHilton’s circular driveway. Guests just drove up; left the car; and were greeted by a few dozen fans. Inside there was a scene with people greeting each other in the lobby, but there was room for zookeeper Jack Hanna who had a lemur on his shoulder and was trailed by two women, one with an oversize porcupine on a leash; the other carrying a five ft.-long alligator. Not far from them was Gloria Allred handing out business cards. NHL Awards 2012 Results: Nominees, Winners and Results from Las Vegas

On Wednesday night, the biggest and brightest stars in hockey will walk the red carpet and head to the annual NHL Awards in Las Vegas.

Here, the league will hand out awards for the past season, including the Hart Trophy for league MVP, the Norris Trophy for the league's best defenseman and the Vezina Trophy for the top goalie in hockey.

Alec Baldwin PUNCHES paparazzo after getting marriage license

REASON:becuase the camera man hit him in the face with a camera.An enraged Alec Baldwin punched a Daily News photographer in the chin Tuesday morning for snapping his picture outside the city Marriage License Bureau.After allegedly lunging himself at a New York Daily News photographer, actor Alec Baldwin is now at the nucleus of a criminal investigation in Manhattan after the paparazzo took legal action against the “30 Rock” star.

The incident took place on Tuesday, minutes after Baldwin obtained his marriage license to wed his Latina fiancée Hilaria Thomas.

Baldwin had a brief encounter with the New York Daily News photographer, Marcus Santos, who attempted to snap photos of him and Thomas together.

Santos says Baldwin was “looking mad,” and kept telling the photogs to “step back.”

To that, Santos and the rest of the lensmen stepped away from the reportedly angry actor, who then allegedly grabbed fellow photographer Jefferson Siegel.

“I said, ‘Don’t touch him,’” Santos told the New York Daily News. “I knew he was going to attack me. I stepped back, and he kept coming.”

Santos said that Baldwin was like a rabid dog.

“He comes after me, starts shoving and punching me — one time, right in the chin,” Santos continued. “Then he started shoving me, and pushing me. Then he goes the other way.”

Santos added that as Baldwin saw red, he “lunged” at him “like a raging bull.”

For his part, Baldwin says that he acted in response to aggression toward him by a photographer.

"A 'photographer 'almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning," Baldwin tweeted.

"The photographer who assaulted me has (belatedly) gone to a hospital claiming injuries," he added.

Witnesses backed up Santos' description of the incident.

“He was like crazy, you know?” witness Goren Veljic told the New York Daily News. “There was an eruption of mad. I think something’s wrong with him.”

Baldwin expressed outrage over the incident on Twitter, saying that all paparazzi should be “waterboarded” and he also referred to the controversial Trayvon Martin case.

“I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over,” Baldwin tweeted on Tuesday.

According to the New York Daily News, Mickey Osterreicher, general counsel for the National Press Photographers Association, took exception to Baldwin's comparison of the incident with paparazzi to the Martin shooting death in Florida.

Tommy Haas wins the final of ATP World Tour Halle 2012 against Roger Federer!!! (7-6) (6-4)Five-time champion Roger Federer will face "mystified" German Tommy Haas in the final of the ATP grasscourt tournament after the two tour veterans clinched straight-sets semi-finals wins on Saturday.

Federer reached the Halle final for the seventh time after a 6-1, 6-4 victory against unseeded Russian Mikhail Youzhny.

Wildcard Haas, a former world number two, defeated compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber, the quarter-final conqueror of Rafael Nadal, 7-6 (7/5), 7-5, and admitted later it was a mystery how he managed to reach the final.

Second-seeded Federer showed few signs of fatigue despite scraping past Canada's Milos Raonic in a third-set tie-break in the last eight on Friday, and needed barely an hour to see off the world number 31 Youzhny.

Federer fired down eight aces, and remains on course to win the Wimbledon warm-up event for the sixth time.

He later claimed that saving three break points in the fifth game of the opening set was vital to his ultimately comfortable win.

"The key for me was coming back from 0-40 then holding that and going 4-1," said the 30-year-old, who was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals at the French Open last week.

"That was a big 10 minutes for me and then, once in the lead, I played a bit more aggressive and he was missing quite a few shots, making it easier for me.

"Overall, I think I played a good tough solid match, especially after yesterday's shoot-out (against Raonic)".

Federer's previous victories in Halle came in 2003-06 and again in 2008, while he also lost the final to Lleyton Hewitt in 2010.

Haas, the champion in 2009 when he beat Djokovic in the final, admitted he had been surprised by his run to the final.

"It's unexpected, it's a bit of mystery how I got here. But I am delighted to be playing good tennis at Halle," said Haas.

The 34-year-old, who will be playing his first final since beating Djokovic at the same venue in 2009, has won just two of his 12 matches against Federer.
